All The Same
03:31
|
|||
I know, I know, you think you’ve heard this one before.
Back in college days, when music filled the dorms.
You had a friend that took you out to several shows.
So perhaps it’s one of those
Well, it’s all the same to me
Just a couple chords and a melody
It’s something beautiful blended in-between
And it’s all the same to me.
When I go fishing drop a line into the stream
See the waters moving and then the muse takes over me
If something’s borrowed, it’s a note from everyone one
There’s nothing new under the sun.
Well, it’s all the same to me
Just a couple chords and a melody.
It’s something beautiful blended in-between
And it’s all the same to me.
Where is my mind? In another space song, across the universe…
And, it’s all the same to me
Just a couple chords and a melody.
It’s something beautiful blended in between
And it’s all the same to me.

Days of Yore
02:23
|
|
||
The leaves on the maple trees, are as lush as they’ll ever be.
And their particular shade of green, just brings me back to being seventeen
I wish that I could write a letter just to say it will be better.
The struggles only last so long.
The days of yore are upon my mind, just like a view to another time.
Took a walk down to touch the sea, the sand and waves feel right around my feet.
And as I looked upon the wooden pier, I am reminded of my ancient fear.
Back when we drove your mother crazy staying in and being lazy,
The summers seemed to last so long
The days of yore are upon my mind, just like a view to another time.
A thousand nights did seem to pass, among the parking lots of Falmouth, Mass.
We were just looking for a place to roam, to find a space that we could call our own.
And in the end you’re still a brother from me to you and another
The future has undone the past.
I’ve got the days of yore upon my mind, just like a view to another time.

Splashdown
04:10
|
|
||
Last time I saw you in the hall
Slumped in a wheel chair, you didn’t look like you at all.
Man of steel back when you were young
Now reduced to barely hanging on.
And I’ll sit and remember this
Your last few days compared to how you lived
(whoa-oh) see the rotors turn
And I’m left waiting like the astronauts
You and I the polar opposites
Found a tether through the paper and the pen
Somehow within the letters we sent
A cracked veneer gave me a view to within.
And I don’t want to dwell on it
The pain I felt from the last words you said.
(whoa-oh) see the rotors turn
And I’m left waiting like the astronauts
Oh ho, I remember this
Whoa oh I remember everything
Busted me all up
Whoa oh I remember everything
So I’ll sit and think of what you did
Cut my losses and I choose to forgive.
(whoa-oh) I see the rotors turn
And I’m left waiting like the astronauts

Like Silver
03:00
|
|
||
All the days you spent with me
I treasure them like silver don’t you see.
Every single memory
of places that we went, just you and me.
A million rides down into town
the fire trucks and the donuts, spinning around.
The imprint of my time with you,
the ever-lasting lasting impact on my youth.
Do you see – the impact that you made?
Do you know – how grateful I am to be yours, to be called your own?
Days and nights as I grew
covered by the roof above my head
The rules, the grace – the in-between –
the sweetness and the warmth of your embrace
Do you see – the impact that you made?
Do you know – how grateful I am to be yours, to be called your own?

Too Soon
03:34
|
|||
Well, it took a long time
But they're finally mine
All these feelings.
Still in my dreams
There's a message beneath
my confusion.
Letters you sent
in a box on my bed,
I’m still reading.
Beginning to end
there's a piece of the thread
I keep missing.
(whoa-oh) I wish I had known you but you left too soon;
(whoa-oh) your end had come.
(whoa-oh) I knew we’d be best friends if you’d hung around;
(whoa-oh) you left too soon.
What was it like
to live a life
of addiction?
When all that you built
was crumbled and spilt
on the pavement?
But you turned it around
before you’d closed out
at your life’s end.
Repairing the seams
and the roadways between
your relations?
(whoa-oh) I wish I had known you but you left too soon;
(whoa-oh) your end had come.
(whoa-oh) I knew we’d be best friends if you’d hung around;
(whoa-oh) you left too soon.
I can hear you when I’m dreaming your voice sounds like a scream

Mountaintop
06:10
|
|||
It's hard to speak
I can barely breathe
Crushing waves break over me
Sunlight shine
Warming me
Reddened skin starts to bleed
So how long will this go on?
Do I have in me what I really need?
Your words to me
Held so preciously
Every phrase clings tightly
When does it end?
Time to begin
This present phase keeps me engaged
From the mountaintop
Everything's clean, every thing's serene
I see a hundred miles
Over and beneath everything in me

Widow's Shoes
05:38
|
|||
Put the washing on the line
Just to occupy my mind
See the sheets start billowing
like the white caps on the sea
Hang my shoes up on the nail
Superstitions never fail
Take a walk up to the peak
For my sailor on the sea
Oh my darling, don’t you see?
I’ve got a red sky over me
In between these crushing waves
is our future here to save.
Been a month since you were here
No more sorrow, no more tears
Pair of crows feet on my face
From the crashing of the waves [off course!]
Oh my darling, can’t you see
I’m a captain on the sea
Got a family to support
Men with families all on board
Oh my darling, can’t you see (whoa-oh)
I’m a captain on the sea (whoa-oh)
Oh my darling, can’t you see
I’ve got a white whale after me.

Lost Myself
04:22
|
|||
I lost myself I was headed into the road
It was a hundred miles into the woods
And I was needing to unload
A hidden trail without a finish line
was the place where I could unwind
And so I lost myself to cut ties for a little while
A friend of mine had called me up and dropped a thought deep into my mind
The storm that I’d been living in was starting to subside.
In a few more weeks I’d be beyond the wall that’d kept me locked into a fight.
For a moment’s peace I’d grabbed my shoes and headed further into the night.
I can’t see it now
Too far from the finish line
I can’t see it now
Closer from behind
Hundred times I wanted to give in a DNF and get pushed aside
But failure carries such a bitter taste it’s hard to chase from the other side.
No one tells you just how hard it is but everybody can sympathize.
So I chose to gather round and unify and overcome with another try.
I can’t see it now
Too far from the finish line
I can’t see it now
Closer from behind
I lost myself.

Referee
02:34
|
|
||
I don’t want to be your referee
Taking sides and push & pull at me
So take a seat
There’s a lot of things that you won’t understand.
The challenge as you make your way, young man
won’t go as planned.
But I’ll be here. Right by your side
You can lean on me, when nothing’s going right.
I’ve got your back, and I'll remain
I’m your advocate for ever and a day.
The future is so bright, but you don’t see.
The pressure that you face is strengthening
the weaker things.
One day you’ll enter into who you are.
Shaped by your triumphs
also by your scars – and you’ll go far.
And all the joy I find in you
Will shower down as you struggle through
My little man, my progeny
Your success will be a treasured gift to me

Closer
06:16
|
|||
Sweet peace, release is what I'm longing for
as blood exudes the pores
This night so dark, but soon it will be light
forever shining bright
Hold on to me, and when you're crushed & pressed
remember what I've said
These words will guide through all that you will see
until you return on the other side
Sleep comes on
Fear so strong
Perfect love
Pulls me
to the other side
Remain in me, for we will meet again
eternity awaits
For you my bride, for we will dance again
when you and I are on the other side
I cannot wait another night
pressed & crushed on every side

Backroads
03:42
|
|
||
Driving around on these back roads
My windows down the air's not so cold
And for a night trouble is at bay
If only for tonight, I wish I could stay
Isn't the place we all want to go?
Free from restraint and carrying our load
Is it just me or are you in this place?
Reminds me of us when we first met
Oh-oh
Trouble has a way of getting in my head
The planner in me just never goes to bed

How It Ends
03:31
|
|||
Oh, this is how it ends
Finally figure out the code
and then it bends.
Did you even get a chance to make amends?
So many broken hearts, so many friends
But from this distance
what do I know?
So many whispers
Oh did you know?
Everyone has a view
This I know
There’s no short answers now.
Oh, I am listening to you sing it out
So much depth to your stories
But what did you leave behind?
What legacy will follow you
into the ether void?
A hundred songs my fill it up
but what is left after the noise?
So many tears will fall within the cries
In anthems lost all with
No reprise.
Everyone that you touched with a note
Now sings a dirge alone.
This is how it ends
